You may have noticed a small, but persistent water leak near a fire hydrant on Main Street. At long last, we are ready to address that problem, as well as a second leak nearby. The Town is providing us with help so we can tackle both issues at the same time, minimizing the time that water will be shut off.
We will be digging in the street on Tuesday, 25 October 2016 in order to expose the water lines and valves that need to be serviced. Water will be shut off on Main Street between Mill Street and Carlton Street (Route 88) beginning at midnight Wednesday, 26 October 2016. After the lines drain, work will begin to make the necessary repairs. It is hoped that the work will be finished before 5:00 am, and water service fully restored shortly thereafter.
These overnight hours were selected in an effort to reduce inconvenience for homes and businesses in the affected area. We will keep noise and light to a minimum, but some inconvenience is to be expected. Additionally, when water is restored there may be air or rust in service lines. These will both go away after running water for a minute, or two.
